Delta Racing Mannheim - Low Voltage BMS

From Design to Reality – with AISLER
At Delta Racing, every new race car challenges us to make our systems lighter, smarter and more reliable. One important step in this development is our new low-voltage battery system and its custom-designed Battery Management System PCB.

The board acts as the central control and monitoring unit of the battery. It measures individual cell voltages and temperatures, monitors the battery current, supports cell balancing and safety functions, logs data, and communicates important operating data with the rest of the vehicle via CAN. By combining these functions on one compact PCB, we can integrate the battery management system efficiently into our Formula Student car while keeping the system accessible for testing, diagnostics and further development.
Turning a PCB design into real hardware is a crucial step for a student racing team, and this is where AISLER has supported us tremendously.
AISLER sponsored the manufacturing of the bare PCBs for our new Battery Management System, allowing us to assemble, test and develop the electronics ourselves. The quality of the manufactured boards has been excellent, and we have also been very impressed by the consistently fast and reliable delivery times. This is especially valuable for us as a Formula Student team, where development cycles are short and having hardware available on time is essential.
Their support gives us the opportunity to work with professionally manufactured hardware and turn our own engineering designs into components that can ultimately become part of our race car.
For us, partnerships like this are much more than financial support. They give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience throughout the complete development process, from schematic and PCB layout to assembly, testing and integration into the vehicle. The PCB itself was designed as a four-layer board with dedicated power, ground and signal structures to achieve compact dimensions and reliable operation in the demanding environment of a Formula Student car.
A huge thank you to AISLER for your supporting and helping us bring our ideas from the screen onto the racetrack. We are extremely grateful to have AISLER as a partner on our journey.
