Hello! We are team MARA, a student project from Kiruna, Sweden taking part of the Swedish-German REXUS/BEXUS program. This coming March we will be sending our experiment on a sounding rocket to try to simulate mining in a space-like environment. Our goal is to successfully take a core sample from an asteroid simulant while in low gravity and vacuum. To achieve this we in the electrical team have designed three PCBs, the D-SUB-15 board, the PSD (Power Supply and Distribution) board, and the connector board.
Last week we received our boards along with the stellar stencils and how now assembled them and are in the process of testing! The D-SUB-15 board can be seen in the lower right of the image. It will allow us to connect our experiment module to the RXSM module. The RXSM module is what will supply the experiment with power as well as allow us to communicate with our experiment. the D-SUB-15 board also galvanically isolates our experiment from the rest of the rocket.
In the lower left we have our PSD board, which converters the power from the D-SUB-15 board into our needed voltages. It is going to power our motors, the LED for the cameras, as well as our onboard computer, a RaspberryPi 4B. At the top of the image is the connector board which will sit on top of the RaspberryPi, allowing for easier connections to the rest of the experiment.
Moving forward we will be continuing testing before moving on to creating our final version of these boards. Thank you Aisler for manufacturing these boards! Its been a joy seeing them IRL after so long looking at them through a screen!
