Meet the PUCHACZ - a student-built 2U CubeSat

Hello everyone!

We are SATLAB AGH, a student team from AGH University of Krakow, Poland, working on PUCHACZ, our 2U CubeSat planned for launch in 2027.

PUCHACZ is planned to operate at an altitude of around 500 km. Its main mission is Earth observation using multispectral and RGB imaging.

We are currently working with simulated imagery, including RGB images at approximately 25 m GSD and NDVI images at 57.5 m GSD.

Our electronics team focuses mainly on the camera and laser systems. As SATLAB, we are also developing and integrating the UHF radio and thermal subsystems ourselves.

For PCB design, we use KiCad, and thanks to AISLER, our team receives the manufactured PCBs free of charge. This allows us to turn our designs into physical hardware and test our electronics during development.

One of the biggest things we’ve learned through our previous project - HYPE, and are actively implementing in PUCHACZ is that testing really matters. For example, automated tests and a clear CI/CD pipeline helps a lot with making sure our hardware and software are ready to work together.

We’re excited to keep developing PUCHACZ and hopefully see our work reach orbit in 2027!
