Who We Are
Democritus Racing Team (DRT) represents the Democritus University of Thrace in the highly competitive Formula Student series. As a dedicated team of engineering students, we design, build, and race high-performance electric vehicles on the international stage. Driven by a commitment to innovation and to meet the rigorous demands of motorsport, we develop all of our critical electronic systems entirely from scratch.
Dashboard Datalogger
This custom PCB serves as the central hub for our race car’s data system. Its primary job is to collect critical data from the car’s sensors and the driver’s inputs, safely storing it onboard so our team can deeply analyze the vehicle’s performance after every track session.
At the core of the board is a powerful microcontroller that handles all the high-speed data processing. To understand exactly how the car is behaving on the track, the design includes high-precision positioning and inertial tracking modules that continuously measure speed, G-forces, acceleration, and handling dynamics.
To ensure reliable data collection in the harsh electrical environment of a race car, the board features robust signal conditioning. Specialized circuitry and custom filtering techniques are used to buffer and stabilize all incoming sensor signals, delivering highly accurate, noise-free data to the system.
For communication, the board features a dual CAN bus architecture to interact with the vehicle’s subsystems, alongside a USB interface for easy data extraction and system programming.
