Formula Student Team Weingarten - High Voltage Indicator

Hello everyone,
We’re the Formula Student Team Weingarten, a group of students passionate about designing and building our own race car. Along the way, electronics and custom PCBs play a key role in bringing our ideas from concept to reality. Since 2025, Aisler has been providing us with high quality PCBs for applications all over our car.

Here is another insight into the custom PCBs we developed for our high-voltage accumulator: The Voltage Indicator PCB.

Its function is simple but safety-critical: It safely interfaces with the tractive system to drive the mandatory warning light that turns on whenever High Voltage is active.
It is based on an open source project by Rootthecause, which can be found here: https://github.com/Rootthecause/HVI.

Technically, it converts our accumulator voltage (up to 600V) down to 12V using a VIPER06 high-voltage converter. From there, it utilizes an R12P12S isolated DC/DC converter to provide a safe, galvanically isolated 12V output for the indicator LED.

In applications like these, it’s very important to have reliable PCBs you can trust.
Thanks to Aisler for supporting us with reliable boards like these!
