We’re the Formula Student Team Weingarten, a group of students passionate about designing and building our own race car. Along the way, electronics and custom PCBs play a key role in bringing our ideas from concept to reality. Since 2025, Aisler is providing us with high quality PCBs for applications all over our car
Here is a small insight into one of the custom PCBs we developed for our high-voltage accumulator. This board handles the fusing for our safety-critical measurement signals and the pre-charge circuit. We’re using dual Bel Fuse components with different ratings tailored to each application, alongside Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 connectors to keep our HV connections secure. In Formula Student, space is tight. Instead of bulky inline fuse holders, designing a custom PCB saves weight and keeps our accumulator packaging clean. Having all safety-critical fuses on a single, easily accessible board makes accumulator maintenance and scrutineering checks much easier.
