As Team Polar our aim is to develop an autonomous solar powered rover that can withstand the super low temperatures, strong kabatic winds and deep crevices of Antarctica. In order to prepare GENTOO to function in the harsh climate of Antarctica, we conduct regular tests and analyses.
Last year we had a test trip in northern Sweden. The trip was a success since GENTOO was able to function properly on the snow in Arctic conditions. The PCB also proved to be very useful during the trip. The PCB worked and we were able to get thermal data thanks to it.
Of course not everything always works perfectly. Once we accidentally inverted a connection point which resulted in a short circuit that burned the PCB. We needed to start again with a new PCB. We learned from this mistake and now are more careful with connections.
We keep improving GENTOO and are working towards our goal to reach Antarctica. We are thankful to Aisler for supporting us throughout this journey and making electrical operations easier with their PCB.
